Robotics What Robotics Has Taught Me I have never thought too much about my interest in technology, engineering, etc. But, this year, robotics gave me an opportunity to branch out and do something different. Robotics was a major learning experience for me. I have been on sports teams before, but I have been apart of something like robotics. I learned how to use tools I have never heard of before and overall learned more about mechanical engineering. David This robotics season was really and eye opening experience for me. I learned about all the ways of robotics and how everyone works together despite the competition. I got my first real introduction to the world of mechanics and engineering. I learned how everything works and hopefully next year I can use that to help us build a successful robot. Zeena Being able to be part of First Robotics was an amazing opportunity for me and I’m happy that I’ll be able to be part of it again next year. I learned many different things about mechanics. Things as little as how to use a drill and something as big as building the motors. In addition, I learned how to work well with a big team and that every aspect of the team is important. Karine What I Learned in Robotics At the beginning of robotics, I couldn’t tell the difference between a nail and a screw. Over the course of the season, I learned how to use multiple tools like a drill, chop saw, etc. overall, I completely came out a different person learning how to build things and work with my teammates. Even the other day when you asked me to put a piece on to the car from last year with a nut and a nail, I was able to complete the task. Ultimately, I believe I came a long way from where I started. -Artem Hello Mr. Scott so what I learned from robotics is that Simon and David are useless. No I’m joking, I learned a lot about electronics and an understanding of wires. Most importantly I learned to works with a team, you know like a sports team! Lessons learned Starting off, I wasn’t sure if I was cut out to take up a big part of a project like this. However, as I learned how to use the different tools and I got an idea of how I can impose my own ideas and thoughts on the work I did, I grew in confidence more and more. For a project like this. I look for longevity in a project I do because a success story for a year isn’t good enough to attract the plaudits that are received for a project that has been going on for 5 or 6 years. Hopefully, next year I can grow more and take up an even more integral part of the team. I had a great experience on the robotics team and I learned a lot. I learned how to hook the wires up with the 4 motors during the beginning of robotics. I also learned how to connect the Ethernet cable and all those components. It was a really fun experience to learn also how to saw the wood and metal. I’m looking forward on participating in the robotics and automotive team this fall because I want to go into the building/automotive field. I am really interested in hands-on activities. What I learned while at the robotics competition was mostly how to cheer for my own team. Although I was only part of the team for one day, I still feel like I learned a lot. I learned how the robot operates. I learned how the whole point system works, and I learned how to work together with other people. I really enjoyed being a part of the team for one day. Daryna Being a part of the robotics team over the past year, I learned a lot of useful skills. I was able to efficiently work in a group, which taught me a skill of team-effort. I was also able to learn how to work with new tools that were introduced to me. At the same time, I could practice all the skills in mechanics I already knew. Throughout the time for robotics, I learned to work more efficiently in a group and the fact that each person contributes in their own way with a particular job. I also learned to think outside the box, because if one thing does not work, then we should find a different way to get the job done. Overall, robotics was a very good learning experience. What I have Learned from Robotics this year. This year, my senior year I was very lucky and very happy to be part of the Manoogian Automotive. Building a car from scratch was fun but getting to participate in the First Robotics was something else. I learned how to communicate with other teams, before each match our alliance would create a strategy, talking with others was my weakness but this event thought me how to work as a team. I also learned how to control the robot we built, being one of the drivers for me was an honor. Checking all the electronics, battery charges, wires, etc. were all the tasks that not only I had to learn to check before each match, but everyone on the team as whole went over the whole robot. We have learned from our mistakes. I learned what the meaning of safety is and how important safety is in a robotics setting. I learned how to market our team. I also learned how a team works and how we should orient our team for coming years.
